SunGas Renewables Appoints Dr. David LaMont as President & CEO
Houston, TX — SunGas Renewables Inc. (“SunGas”) today announced that Dr. David LaMont has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 4. Dr. LaMont succeeds Robert Rigdon, who will retire after a distinguished 45year career.
Dr. LaMont brings more than 20 years of experience in energy technology innovation, commercialization, and largescale project development. He has served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development since SunGas’ inception in September 2020, playing a central role in establishing the company’s commercial foundation and strategic direction.
Prior to SunGas, Dr. LaMont led the technology commercialization group at GTI Energy, where he was instrumental in creating SunGas as a spin-out of GTI Energy. Before joining GTI Energy, he spent a decade at ConocoPhillips in roles spanning technology assessment, economic modeling, strategic planning, and the development and execution of emerging energy technologies. He brings deep experience in technology commercialization, licensing, largescale project development, and project financing. Dr. LaMont holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Washington State University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Mr. Rigdon elected to retire after six years leading SunGas and a 45year career in the global energy industry. Over the course of his career, Mr. Rigdon advanced gasification and clean energy technologies, built highperformance teams, and drove disciplined project development and project execution across major clean energy and technology organizations worldwide. He led the spinout of SunGas from GTI Energy and established the company as a leading provider of renewable syngas technology systems. Mr. Rigdon, together with Dr. LaMont, also played a key role in establishing the strategic partnership between SunGas and C2X, which is deploying SunGas gasification technology systems and enabling the development of largescale biofuels facilities globally. Mr. Rigdon will continue to serve on the SunGas Board of Directors and will remain an advisor to the company to support continuity across ongoing initiatives.
